High School Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher

Position Summary

Manteno High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher from approximately February 4, 2027 - May 7, 2027.

The ideal candidate will create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that fosters academic growth, social-emotional development, and a love of learning. This role involves planning and delivering instruction aligned with curriculum standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues, families, and staff to support student success.

Qualifications/Requirements

Valid Illinois Substitute Teaching License or Professional Educator’s License

Valid LBS1 Certification preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of child development and instructional best practices

Strong classroom management and organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs

Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools

Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons across core subject areas

Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners

Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly

Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance

Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs

Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and support staff

Coordinate with special education staff and co-teachers, as needed, to support diverse learners

Implement classroom management strategies that promote respect and responsibility

Participate in professional development opportunities and school activities

Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with district policies and procedures

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student, family, and staff information

Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff

Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth

Uphold school policies, procedures, and educational standards

Perform other duties as assigned by Administration

Salary & Benefits

Daily Rate of $140.57

After the 20th consecutive day, the salary changes to the per diem of a first year teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree with no additional credit hours (~$237.00/day)
