Physical Education Long-term Substitute Position

Position Summary

Saint Peter Middle School is seeking a long-term substitute to teach Physical Education for grades 5 and 6. The substitute will provide safe, engaging, standards-based instruction that helps students build physical skills, fitness, and teamwork. This position reports to the Building Principal.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and teach physical education lessons aligned with state standards

Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive gym environment

Manage student behavior and promote sportsmanship and respect

Assess student progress and keep accurate grade and attendance records

Follow IEPs, 504 plans, and other student support plans

Communicate with families and collaborate with staff

Supervise students during assigned duties

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and licensure in Physical Education

Experience teaching middle school or physical education

CPR/First Aid certification

Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and mandatory reporting

Proficiency with Google Workspace and student information systems
