JH Girls Basketball Coach

Summary
Melrose Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as a part-time coach for the junior high girls' basketball team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for the game, a commitment to fostering a positive team environment, and the ability to inspire and develop young athletes. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and guiding student-athletes to enhance their skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the sport.

Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
- Organize and supervise games and competitions, ensuring a positive and safe environment for all participants.
- Develop and implement training programs that cater to the varying skill levels of team members.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
- Foster a culture of sportsmanship, respect, and inclusivity among team members.
- Monitor the academic performance of athletes and encourage a balance between sports and academics.
- Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to promote the overall athletic program at Melrose Middle School.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and new coaching techniques.
- Maintain equipment and ensure that all safety protocols are followed during practices and games.

Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably in basketball or a related sport, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for practices and games.
- A strong commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check clearance as required by Melrose Middle School policies.
