Location : Quogue Elementary School (PreK-6) Hours : 7:45 AM- 3:15 PM Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Communicate and coordinate effectively with the classroom teacher to support daily lesson plans Assist in preparing materials for classroom projects, especially in art and science Provide individual and small-group support to reinforce understanding of instructional concepts Strictly follow all school rules, policies, and procedures Ensure student safety in the classroom, on field trips, and throughout the campus Assist in reviewing, grading, and recording homework and assessments Observe and assess student progress; identify students needing additional support Provide targeted assistance to students with special needs Qualifications for Teaching Assistant: Experience working with children strongly preferred New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate required Basic understanding of child development and appropriate support strategies Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with teachers and engage with parents Excellent organizational skills to prepare materials and support multiple lesson plans Patience, responsibility, and professionalism in daily classroom interactions Ability to prioritize tasks and assist the teacher in a fast-paced environment Basic proficiency in writing, math, and science to assist students and answer questions Ability to manage challenging student behavior calmly and professionally Proven ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
