Kindergarten Educational Assistant

PRIMARY PURPOSE :
Kindergarten Educational Assistants will work five hours per day supporting Kindergarten students. Kindergarten EAs will support various academic and social-emotional needs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS :

Reports directly to the Building Principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Support small group instruction

Support social emotional needs of students

Support 1:1 assessment of students

Support recess and positive behavioral support

Support student monitoring in cafeteria

Provide academic support to IEP students

Provide support for progress monitoring and data collection

Support with arrival and dismissal of kindergarten students

Support teacher with daily tasks that improve parent communication

Support teacher in collecting student data

Maintaining strict confidentiality with respect to information concerning students

Accompanying students on community field trips

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

Experience working with elementary age students.

COGNITIVE/COMMUNICATION ABILITIES :

Ability to read, write, and interpret for meaning/purpose

Ability to use correct grammar, sentence structure, and spelling

Ability to compose clear, concise sentences and paragraphs

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Ability to follow written and verbal directions

Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision

Proficiency in the use of technology (including various computer software programs) and be able to operate a variety of office equipment

Must be cooperative, congenial, service- oriented, and work well with others as a team

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Frequently required to handle equipment necessary for the job

Lift/Carry up to 15 pounds

Have the ability to work and interact closely with Kindergarten students

Moderate noise exposure

Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions

OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

Current Act 34, Act 114 and Act 151 clearances

School Health Form (including physical and TB test)

PDE Form 6004 and Act 168 disclosure forms
