Substitute School Nurse

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substitute School Nurse to provide temporary nursing support within our educational environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of students while promoting a positive and supportive atmosphere. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
- Assess and monitor student health, including administering medications and managing chronic health conditions.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with school policies and state regulations.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding health issues and concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school.
- Participate in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including infection control measures.
- Assist in the management of health screenings and immunization requirements.
- Provide support for students with special healthcare needs and coordinate with external healthcare providers as necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.

Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment.
- Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing preferred.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of child development and common childhood illnesses.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic school environment.
