7 hr/day Paraprofessional (CLA)

Coventry Public Schools is seeking to hire a 7 hr/day Paraprofessional for the CLA Program

Must hold a Teacher Assistant Certification and have passed a praxis exam OR have a teacher Assistant certification and Associates OR at least an Associates degree in education.
This is a union contracted 180 day position with compensation according to contract.

Qualifications
1.Prior experience working in a comparable position preferred.
2.Certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI); if successful applicant is not currently CPI certified, training will be provided

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Experience with children who have emotional behavioral concerns preferred.
•Experience with de-escalation preferred.
•Ability to assist in transitioning students into the general education setting.
•Ability to collect and monitor data as part of a behavior plan.
•Ability to work with a diverse team of teachers.
•Ability to work effectively with children who may exhibit emotional distress or challenging behaviors, including physical outbursts.
