Qualifications:

Ability to perform work involving physical strength and endurance

Knowledge (or the ability to gain knowledge) of the methods utilized in general mechanic work

Valid Class A commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements to operate a school bus within six (6) months of employment (or ability to obtain within six (6) months of meeting FDOT licensing requirements)

High school diploma or equivalent*Preferred

*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

Performance Responsibilities:

Assists mechanics in the repair of vehicles.

Assists in repairs to engines.

Maintains garage area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

Performs tire maintenance and replacement operations.

Assists in school bus- and other district- vehicles (scheduled) inspections.

Maintains effective working relationship with other employees.

Assists in motor vehicle road calls and recoveries.

Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
