PrincipalJob SummaryThe Special Education Teacher Assistant provides small group and individual support to students andassists classroom teachers in meeting academic goals. This role may include collaborating with thebehavioral advocate team and other tasks as assigned by the building principal.The Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including sexual orientation and genderidentity), disability, age, religion, height, weight, marital or family status, military status, ancestry, genetic information, or any otherlegally protected category, (collectively, "Protected Classes"), in its programs and activities, including employment opportunities.ResponsibilitiesSupport classroom structure and positive relationships through district curriculum implementation.Foster a supportive classroom culture that addresses non-academic needs to aid student success.Assist in monitoring and guiding students’ progress, providing feedback, and adapting teachingstrategies as needed.Participate in meetings (grade-level, school, district, parent) when required.Undergo training for non-invasive medical procedures and perform them per IEP requirements.Supervise students during meals, recess, and other activities.Engage students in positive playground activities.Document academic and behavioral progress using tools from the behavior team.Perform other duties as assigned by administration.Required:High School Diploma (GED).60 hours of college credit, prior MI BOE approvedassessment, or willingness to take ETS ParaproAssessmentPreferred:Experience as a classroom assistant.CPI and/or Restorative Justice training.
