Anticipated Leave Replacement Special Education Teacher

Verona Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, collaborative special education teacher for an anticipated leave of absence. This is a 100% in-class support (ICR) position. The teacher will co-teach with general education teachers to help students with IEPs access the general education curriculum and make meaningful progress toward their goals.

Responsibilities

Co-plan and co-teach with general education partners using models such as station, parallel, and team teaching

Implement IEP modifications, accommodations, and specially designed instruction in the general education classroom

Differentiate instruction and adapt materials, assessments, and assignments to meet individual student needs

Monitor and record student progress toward IEP goals and objectives; complete progress reports on schedule

Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, annual reviews, and Child Study Team conferences as needed

Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians, case managers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals

Support positive behavior and implement behavior intervention plans where applicable

Maintain accurate records in accordance with district policy, state regulations, and confidentiality requirements

Qualifications

A valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) certificate, CE, CEAS, or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) is required.

Experience with co-teaching and in-class support models (preferred)

Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills

Familiarity with differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and data-driven decision-making

Successful completion of a criminal history background check, per New Jersey law

This is a per diem position with a salary range of $300-$314 per diem.
