Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction
Jericho Union Free School District • Jericho, New York • 12-month position
THE OPPORTUNITY
Jericho seeks an accomplished academic leader to direct the development, implementation and evaluation of the District's PK–12 instructional program so that every student receives an education of the highest quality that meets their needs for the present and for the future.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Administer all PK–12 academic programs including NYS Universal Pre-K
* Conduct a continuous assessment of the educational needs of students at all levels and formulate short- and long-range plans for curriculum development and instructional improvement
* Chair the Districtwide Curriculum Committee; review course offerings and new course proposals and lead the selection of textbooks and instructional materials
* Direct the evaluation of all academic programs; compile and analyze student assessment and research data and report findings to the Superintendent and Board
* Communicate the approved curriculum to the professional staff and ensure coordination, consistency and articulation of programs across grades and schools
* Responsibility for new teacher orientation and monthly new teacher workshops
* Ensure professional development translates to the continuous improvement of professional practice
* Keep informed of laws, regulations and policies affecting educational services and serve as the Superintendent's resource on instructional matters, including presentations to the community
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: New York State certification as School District Leader (SDL)
Required: Demonstrated record of improving teaching and learning through data-informed, collaborative leadership as a Principal, Supervisor or Director
Preferred: Earned doctorate
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve-month position reporting to the Superintendent of Schools. Anticipated start date on or before July 1, 2027. Salary commensurate with experience, with a regionally competitive benefits package.
