Melvindale Northern Allen Park Public Schools - Provide support services for students in the areas of academic programs, team teaching, registration, course planning, school rules, etc.
- Assess and counsel students based on observations, conversations, and test results.
- Guide students to choose courses consistent with his/her interests, abilities and career goals.
- Help students develop post-secondary education plans in accordance with their interests and abilities.
- Advise and counsel students regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional problems.
- Provide assistance with conflict resolution and crisis intervention to students when difficult situations occur at school or home, and refer students and families to appropriate service providers when necessary.
- Participate in the Student Success Teams (SST) to identify students who may need targeted or intensive services, and coordinate with other professionals to ensure services are provided.
- Consult, facilitate, and maintain communication with parents, teachers, administrators, and pertinent agents on specific student academic and education matters including academic modifications and/or accommodations.
- Provide feedback and recommend appropriate action and solutions to individual student's academic and educational needs and abilities.
- Coordinate all state testing programs.
- Create class schedules.
- Complete assessments and tests, analyze results and provide feedback.
- Assist with preparation of report cards and progress reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee.
- Organize Honor's Night Ceremony.
- Master's degree in counseling or related field.
- Valid Michigan teacher's certificate with Guidance Counselor (NT) endorsement OR a School Guidance Counselor License issued by the Michigan Department of Education.
