Girls Assistant Basketball Coach

Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our coaching staff as a Girls Assistant Basketball Coach at Wooster Middle School. This seasonal position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about fostering a positive team environment, developing young athletes' skills, and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach to support the team's development and ensure a successful basketball season.

Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices and training sessions.
- Help develop game strategies and provide input on player performance.
- Support the recruitment and retention of team members, fostering an inclusive and motivating atmosphere.
- Provide individual and group instruction to enhance players' skills and understanding of the game.
- Monitor student-athletes' academic progress and promote a balance between academics and athletics.
- Attend all practices, games, and team meetings, contributing to a cohesive coaching staff.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations and updates.
- Uphold and enforce school policies, athletic guidelines, and sportsmanship standards during practices and games.
- Assist in organizing team events, including fundraisers, community service activities, and end-of-season celebrations.

Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with players, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
- A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
- A background check may be required prior to employment.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
