Substitute Food Service Worker

Summary
The Genesee School District is seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to fill the role of Substitute Food Service Worker. This position is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our food service program, ensuring that students receive nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment. As a substitute, you will step in as needed to support our food service team, contributing to the overall well-being of our students.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with established guidelines and menus.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation and serving areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, following all operational procedures.
- Help with inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies.
- Provide excellent customer service to students and staff, fostering a positive dining experience.
- Follow directions from the Food Service Manager and other staff to ensure efficient meal service.
- Participate in training and professional development as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the food service program.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food service or a related field is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Must be able to follow instructions and adhere to safety and sanitation standards.
- Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy items, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
