The Board of Education for Special Services School District and Vocational Technical School District of the County of Salem seeks an outstanding educational leader to serve as successor Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1, 2027, with salary and benefits to be negotiated.
About Salem County Special Services and Vocational Technical School District
The Salem County Special Services School District and Vocational Technical School District are located in a beautiful rural and agricultural county in southwestern New Jersey and conveniently located near Wilmington, Delaware and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The county is home to many small businesses, farms, and some industry. Major employers are PSEG, Chemours, the hospitals, County Government and the school districts. The county is rich in historical and cultural heritage. It is a small county with approximately 65,400 residents. Because of its small size, the need for community-based services is great. Opportunity abounds for creating such services, especially for the under age 21 populations, which comprises approximately 26 percent of the populations. The Districts have also expanded to serve neighboring Cumberland and Gloucester Counties, which are larger and much more populous. The Districts are uniquely positioned to foster collaborative relationships with other school districts of all local counties as a receiving district of more than 764 full time vocational students (including academies), 80 shared time vocational students, and 144 special services students .
Specific desired leadership characteristics and qualifications are expected to be available and posted mid-October 2026. Candidates must possess a New Jersey School Administrator Certificate or be immediately eligible to obtain the same. The successful candidate should have experience in vocational technical education as well as special education. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
