Job Summary

Manage and Teach the Competitive Marching Band Color Guard . The marching band season generally begins with color guard clinics/auditions in the spring semester. The competitive season generally wraps up in mid/late October or early/mid November. The Color Guard instructor is responsible for the Color Guard program, including dance/movement, flag, rifle, sabre, and/or props.

Responsibilities as assigned by the Marching Band Directors

Season Responsibilities

Before Season

Responsibilities as assigned by the Marching Band Directors, including but not limited to creation/collection of clinic and audition exercises and choreography as well as preparation of equipment for the season

Lead instructional clinics in order for students to prepare for auditions

Participate in the audition process with the Marching Band Directors

Collaborate with Marching Band Directors with regard to equipment/costume design, as assigned

During Season

Plan and deliver instruction as directed by the Marching Band Directors, typically multiple rehearsals each week

Supervise students in spring/early summer training, summer band camp, fall rehearsals, competitions, and performances throughout the season
