Substitute General Kitchen Worker

The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is seeking applicants for a PT General Kitchen Worker at LOCATION, HOURS. The position is 4.5 hours/day, 5 days/week, 10 months/year, Monday through Friday. Starting rate: Starting rate: $19.47/Regular - $19.67 after probation.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills by written test

Ability to follow written and oral instructions given by supervisor, including use of standardized recipes

Demonstrated via written test, elementary math skills

Understanding of basic nutrition, sanitation, and federal regulations as they apply to school nutrition programs

Have a positive pleasant demeanor

Create a positive pleasant atmosphere

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Reports to the Food Service Manager for work assignment and/or instructions at the beginning of each working day or as necessary.

2. Assist Food Service Manager with putting away grocery orders (Refrigerated, Frozen and Dry Goods). Must be able to lift 40lbs on a consistent basis.

3. Ability to re-stock Beverage Refrigerators as requested.

4. Ability to clean pots, pans, utensils in three well sink and dish room as directed.

5. Assists in the preparation and portioning of salads, sandwiches, pasta, cookies, using the proper recipes, and sanitation procedures (including gloves).

6. Obtains food and equipment necessary to do assigned jobs and assists wherever requested by the Food Service Manager.

7. Checks that condiments, napkins, silverware, and dishes are in place.

8. Checks dining room to ensure that everything is in readiness.

9. Assists in serving and in being responsible for notifying the Food Service Manager when additional foods must be prepared for the serving line.

10. Makes sure that the kitchen and serving areas are as neat as possible during serving and keeps them that way in free moments when not serving.

11. Performs clean-up duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.

12. Carries out other functions deemed necessary by Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services and/or Food Service Manager.
