Tentative assignment: Mid-November 2026–March 2027
Schedule: Full-time during scheduled school days
Art and Science Academy is seeking a long-term substitute Special Education Teacher to support students in kindergarten through eighth grade. ASA is a small public charter school that integrates art and science and values strong relationships, collaboration, and individualized student support.
The anticipated assignment runs from Mid-November 2026 through March 2027. Start and end dates are tentative and may change.
Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans.

Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.

Maintain required special education records and complete assigned case management responsibilities.

Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and the Special Education Director.

Communicate with families and participate in IEP and team meetings as needed.

Support a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Qualifications

Appropriate Minnesota teaching license for the assignment; a special education license is preferred.

Experience supporting students with a range of academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.

Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

Knowledge of individualized instruction, positive behavior supports, and IEP implementation.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, and the terms of the assignment.
