Job description

The Student Support Program is seeking a full-time general education teacher with a growth mindset to work with middle school students in grades 6-8 and implement restorative methods and practices with all students. The teaching assignment may include English/reading, math, social studies, and science for grades 6-8. The candidate should have the ability to build strong relationships with students, have effective communication skills, and be committed to the success of all students. The candidate should also have strong instructional strategies to help students progress both behaviorally and academically, as well as be flexible in an ever-changing environment.

The Student Support Program is part of the Student Services department, and it is an opportunity for students in both middle and high school to continue their academic progress during long-term suspensions, expulsions, or times of transition in a smaller, more structured environment. While not a specified program for behavior, some students do exhibit challenging behavior. However, through a structured, predictable, and safe environment, our students can find a great deal of success, which will give them the opportunity to return to a traditional school setting and make more positive choices.

The Student Support Program is located at 1801 S. 40th Street.

This position is subject to a veterans preference.
