Custodian

York High School is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities team. In this role, you will play a key part in keeping our school safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and community members.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, and restrooms.
- Handle trash removal and routine floor care (stripping, waxing, buffing as needed).
- Assist with basic maintenance, light repairs, and seasonal setup/breakdown for school events and athletics.
- Respond promptly to routine cleaning requests and minor spills or hazards.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive attitude around high school students and staff.
- Must pass a Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) fingerprinting/background check.
