- Be flexible, as teacher absences will dictate the daily assignments
- Be professional at all times
- Follow all school rules, procedures, and district policies
- Professional attire is expected
- When assigned, assume the duties and roles of the regular classroom teacher
- Supervise and manage the classroom, including student discipline
- Supervision of students outside of the classroom during the school day as directed by administration administration
- Implementation of lesson plans left by the teacher to maximize academic time and motivate students to be engaged learners
- Assign tasks and homework according to the daily lesson plan provided
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level and interests of the students
- Take all precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
- Foster a safe and positive classroom environment. Ensure appropriate constant student supervision and assure the health, welfare, and safety of students
- Report injuries, accidents, and issues to the school nurse or administration
- The permanent substitute teacher position may be a single classroom or in multiple assignments within a day
- Possess a Substitute Teacher Permit issued by the Indiana Department of Education or hold a valid Indiana Teachers License
- Prior experience working with students desired
- A degree from higher education is preferred but not required. Must meet all Clark-Pleasant employee eligibility criteria
