Varsity Wrestling Assistant Coach

Position Detail

For the 2026-2027 season

Pay rate: Per Schedule C

Qualifications

Comprehensive understanding of high school wrestling rules, weight class management, scoring, and technical skill development.

Previous experience coaching high school or club wrestling, or collegiate/varsity high school wrestling competing experience.

Ability to effectively teach high-level technique, conditioning, and mental toughness to varsity-level student-athletes.

Willingness to run high-intensity practice drills, assist with weight management monitoring, and conduct individual skill sessions.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with the Head Coach, athletic director, wrestlers, and parents.

Dedication to promoting sportsmanship, managing team culture, and supervising student-athletes during practices, meets, and travel.

Commitment to completing required district and state athletic administrative duties, hydration testing coordination, and skin check protocols.

Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to the first contest).

Complete MHSAA Rules Meeting requirement.

Ability to pass a State of Michigan background check (ICHAT) and FBI fingerprint clearance.
