- Night Shift: Starting at $48,424 (Step 1)
- Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, gymnasiums, and common areas according to established schedules and standards
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, reporting larger issues to the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school and community events
- Monitor building systems, including heating and boiler operations, as directed
- Maintain grounds, including seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting, and leaf cleanup
- Follow all safety procedures and properly handle and store cleaning chemicals in accordance with Right-to-Know and PEOSH requirements
- Secure the building at the close of the day, including locking doors and checking windows and alarm systems (night shift)
- Open the building and prepare facilities for the start of the school day (day shift)
- Respond to custodial needs throughout the day in a courteous and timely manner
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior custodial, maintenance, or building services experience preferred
- Trade work experience preferred, such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, or HVAC
- New Jersey Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler License preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Courteous and professional demeanor when working in a school environment with students, staff, and families
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Night Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Salary: Per the negotiated agreement between the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education and the Ho-Ho-Kus Education Association (HEA)

About the District
Ho-Ho-Kus Public School District is a PreK through 8 single-school district in Bergen County, New Jersey, serving approximately 580 students. We are seeking dependable, hardworking custodians to join our buildings and grounds team.
Position Summary
Custodians are responsible for the cleaning, upkeep, and safe operation of the school building and grounds. Working as part of a collaborative team, custodians play a vital role in supporting the daily life of the school and ensuring that facilities are ready for students, staff, and community events.

These are 12-month positions. Shift hours are as follows:
Occasional overtime, including evenings, weekends, and snow emergencies, may be required.
