Position Summary: Assist bus drivers in safely transporting school age students to and from school and to school sponsored events.

Minimum Qualifications/Job Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required

Experience : Experience with K-12 special education students preferred

The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to some of the listed qualifications.

Customer Contacts:

Internal: Students, teachers, principal

External: Parents

Performance Responsibilities:

Assist bus drivers with student discipline during daily bus routes

Follow the established disciplinary procedures for students not following bus rules

Assist in transporting students with special needs

Operate the wheel chair lift and secure wheelchairs

Transfer students from a wheelchair to a bus seat

Secure students in child safety restraint harnesses

Any other activities required to insure the safe transportation of students

Working Conditions – Typical working conditions are in a school bus environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gasses are possible. Noise level is usually moderate as in a bus environment. No environmental hazards are encountered in the normal performance of duties.

Physical Demands – Work requires securing wheel chairs and seat belts. Some students require assistance moving getting into a seat and being secured in the seat. Work may require picking up, assisting movement of students.
