Substitute Custodian

Summary
We are seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as substitute custodians across the school district. This part-time position would be scheduled on an as-needed basis when full-time employees are absent during day or night shift hours. This opportunity is ideal for someone interested in working occasionally to supplement their income or retirement. The ideal candidate is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment and is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently, ensuring that all cleaning and light maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing various areas of the facility.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Clean and maintain restrooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies and in excellent condition.
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed, reporting any shortages to management.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and performing basic repairs.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and visitors.
- Respond promptly to any cleaning emergencies or special requests from management.
- Maintain an organized and tidy custodial storage area.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure all areas are cleaned to the highest standards.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in custodial or janitorial work is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform repetitive tasks.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and ability to follow safety guidelines.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
- Flexibility to work day or night shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Possess required clearances prior to starting employment. A background check may be required.
