Early Childhood Substitute

We are seeking adaptable, energetic, and nurturing individuals to join our team as Early Childhood & Latchkey Substitutes . In this substitute role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for young learners.

Depending on daily program needs, shifts may include assisting in early childhood classrooms during the school day, or supervising before- and after-school care (Latchkey) for young and school-aged children. This position offers flexible scheduling, making it ideal for educators, students, retirees, or anyone passionate about working with children.

Key Responsibilities

Early Childhood Substitute Duties (School Day)

Support or lead classroom routines, following the curriculum and lesson plans provided by the primary teacher.

Guide young children in daily activities, including free play, storytime, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and social skill development.

Assist with classroom management, encouraging positive behavior, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.

Help with daily care routines, including meal/snack times, rest periods, and basic hygiene or sanitation needs.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment that meets all licensing and state guidelines.

Latchkey Substitute Duties (Before & After School Care)

Provide active supervision during morning (before school) and/or afternoon (after school) hours.

Facilitate recreational activities, indoor/outdoor games, arts and crafts, and unstructured play.

Execute accurate check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring students are only released to authorized parents or guardians.

Prepare and distribute designated snacks following nutritional and allergy safety guidelines.

General Responsibilities

Establish warm, respectful relationships with children, families, and staff members.

Communicate effectively with program supervisors and lead staff regarding student progress, daily events, or behavioral concerns.

Respond promptly and calmly to minor injuries or emergencies according to facility protocol.
