- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in mathematics
- Promote critical and creative thinking and analysis
- Cultivate perseverance through consistent application of problem-solving skills
- Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff
- Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
- CT (029) Mathematics teaching certification (7-12)
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching high school students preferred
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents
- Success using a variety of teaching styles that facilitate independent and group learning activities
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Promotion of a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
